Nashville “Crane Watch” in Full Swing

Nashville, Tennessee’s building growth continues to be explosive with no signs of slowing down.  Activity is so noticeable that the Nashville Business Journal has launched a site called ‘Crane Watch: The Big Map of Projects,’ so residents and visitors can view the progress of the many new buildings popping up in the Music City.

The map is segmented into seven sections that allows users to research specific types of developments, such as offices, hotels, and others.  From here, you can click on any point on the map and an image/rendering of the project is displayed, along with a description and cost. As of April 25, 2017, there are currently 212 construction projects shown in Davidson County—with about 50% under construction and 50% in the proposal phase.

Other than being pretty cool, what does the Crane Watch indicate in terms of business?  Well, it shows that venture capitalists want to invest in Nashville; businesses are moving their headquarters or offices here; and people desire to call the Greater Nashville area their home.  Jobs are plentiful in many industries including construction, healthcare, hospitality, and technology.  Furthermore, young professionals are attracted to a place where they can live, work, and play—all within walking distance.

Nashville is truly in the midst of an economic boom and the corporations expanding here are clamoring for the latest Audio/Visual technologies to keep their employees connected and efficiently sharing information.  Video walls, Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) videoconferencing, and digital signage are three areas experiencing a significant uptick, as are requests for outfitting small conference rooms, otherwise referred to as “huddle rooms“, so teams (usually 3-5 employees) have a dedicated space to meet and discuss their project or task.

The city’s future is bright and is changing daily, as more and more people and businesses want to be a part of Nashville’s success.
