Long-term care market poised to take advantage of affordable telemedicine

While traditional acute-care providers and rural health care practices have embraced telemedicine for years, long-term care providers have not been positioned to take advantage of the technology.  This is primarily due to the cost of traditional telemedicine equipment.   However, with the advent of software-based telecommunications solutions, the day when a skilled nursing facility or rehabilitation center can leverage the technology is now upon us.

Louisville’s Business First staff recently interviewed Barry Sawayer, CEO of Trinity Video Communications, and John Jennings, the company’s Chief Technology Officer.  The company has developed an affordable, easy-to-use telemedicine cart aimed specifically at this market.
