Summary: Provides expert technical support to assigned customer locations. Conducts the integration, operation, installation and maintenance of audio visual (A/V) equipment such as display devices, projectors, video teleconferencing systems, fiber equipment, and other related equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
Perform specialized technical tasks in the operation, installation, configuration and maintenance of complex audio visual equipment for Company and customers. Read and interpret A/V system drawings, schematics, and construction plans and install A/V equipment to meet requirements as detailed in installation plans. Install low voltage wiring and cable; solder and terminate connectors; wire equipment racks; and assemble equipment/devices using the appropriate supports/mounts. Diagnose and troubleshoot A/V equipment failures and make minor adjustments to audio visual equipment and systems. Test and debug systems for final quality assurance and acceptance by the customer. Mentor and train junior level Audio Visual Technicians. Conduct onsite training for customers on the operation and capabilities of installed equipment. Provide recommendations on new/replacement A/V equipment and direct inquiries to company’s sales department employees. Perform weekly and monthly preventive maintenance (PM) on all A/V equipment as required by the customer. Other related duties as may, from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor.

Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in media arts, computer science, electronics, audio visual technology and a minimum of six months related experience installing and maintaining audio visual equipment. Position requires Secret Clearance, training/knowledge of Polycom/Cisco VTC codecs and audio DSP technology (Biamp, BSS Audio, QSC, ClearOne, others), Control System installation (Crestron, AMX, Extron), IP network knowledge (Wired and Wireless), ability to understand system drawings, “hands-on” experience in wiring racks and wire management. AVIXA’s CTS/CTS-I/CTS-D or the equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret AV system drawings, schematics, and construction plans. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Skills: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel, IP network knowledge, ISDN network knowledge, “hands-on” experience in wiring racks and wire management. An individual requires the ability to understand and navigate the process of uploading and updating programming and code to Pro-Audio devices and to AMX and/or Crestron control systems; the ability to navigate the Internet using various platforms.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:Preferred certifications include AVIXA’s CTS, and CTSI or CTSD and ability to obtain a Federal Government issued Secret Clearance or above.
Other Skills and Abilities: Working knowledge of A/V equipment, protocols/standards and cable management, cable terminations and soldering.
