Job Title:  Audio Visual Engineer

Location: Louisville, KY

FLSA Classification: Exempt

Reports To: Director of Engineering

Summary:  Evaluates and selects the hardware components necessary to build and install an Audio/Visual System specific to client requirements. Provides technical consultation to sales and AV technical personnel.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  • Create schematic drawings that illustrate the connectivity of all components in an Audio/Visual System.
  • Create equipment lists that represent all of the intended functionality of an Audio/Visual System.
  • Attend meetings and conduct site visits as needed to assist client needs and structural conditions prior to system development.
  • Provide technical support to field technicians when problems arise, i.e., equipment does not function as intended.
  • Maintain current knowledge of manufacturers’ offerings, capabilities and trends in the audio visual industry. Attend manufactures training and maintain certifications as required.
  • Create architectural drawings that illustrate the intended placement of Audio/Visual components, i.e., floor plans, ceiling plans, elevations, etc.
  • Other related duties as may, from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor.

Education and/or Experience Bachelor’s degree in engineering and/or CTS-D certification and a minimum of five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.  Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.  Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

Mathematical Skills  Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, and quadratic equations, Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

Reasoning Skills   Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills    To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Design software: AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio; Internet Explorer/common web browsers, Microsoft Word, and Excel.

Certifications Licenses, Registrations   Position requires maintaining valid driver’s license; CTS-D Certified Technology Specialist, Top Secret Clearance Level preferred
